Rupert Elder
Delighted Down Under

odds online review: The
former European Poker Tour (EPT) champion, Rupert Elder,
has started 2025 with a bang, after taking down the first
event at the 2025 Aussie Millions.
The former economics
student first rose to prominence, in the live game, when
he won the €5,000 EPT Main Event at San Remo for a cool
€930,000 back in 2025. A profitable World Series of Poker
(WSOP) followed for Elder before 2025 came and went
without too much of a blip.

The field sizes at
the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) threatened to
show the world that live poker was back, and the first
tournament of the 2025 Aussie Millions has followed that
trend. 708 professional and amateur poker players alike
ponied up the AU$1,100 to participate in No-Limit Hold'em
Event Re-Entry event, and by the end of the re-entry
period an astonishing 1,338 entrants had been recorded.
The ten-handed final
table boasted a talented crop of players that included
Rupert Elder and former EPT Champion Martin Finger. Also
seated at the final table was Brendon Rubie who was
incredibly in the running for back-to-back titles after
taking down this same event in 2025 for AU$200,000.
Heads up play fell
between the two big guns with Elder holding a mighty lead
with 10.4 million chips to the 2.95 million of Martin
Finger. The action didn't last long with Elder opening the
button for 200,000 and Finger making the call. The first
three cards out of the deck were [Qs] [Jh] [2c] and Finger
check-raised to 450,000 after Elder had bet 175,000. Elder
moved all-in holding [Kd] [Ts] for the open-ended straight
draw and Finger found the call with [Qd] [7h] for top
pair. The [Qc] on the turn putting Finger in a stronger
position, until the [Ac] on the river sealed the deal for
the man from UK, who now has AU$250,000 lining his
pockets.
